Severn Care / Training Apprenticeship Scheme

At Severn Care we are passionate about personal development of our staff.  We are ‘investors’ in the recruitment of individuals who wish to pursue the appropriate training in the Health and Social Care Sector.

For the last 3 years, we have been able to work with local schools (in particular Forest E-Act academy, previously Heywood Secondary) in providing real opportunity to individuals leaving school, who feel they have potentially under achieved and are looking for that chance to learn new skills.

Our success rate of the 11 Apprentices we have employed over the last 2 years has been 10/11 Apprentices have fulfilled the Level 2 Health and Social Care Full Diploma and achieved full time employment status. The Apprenticeship programme is a fully funded programme that supports the employee over a 12 month period to achieve their Diploma, level 1 numeracy and literacy skills and a good knowledge base to understand the sector and what is required to succeed in the sector.

Not only is a full Diploma achieved, ALL apprentices receive regular supervision, support, induction, and a whole range of associated mandatory and optional training that has no costs attached at any stage, and holidays are paid in line with full time employees, currently at 28 days per annum.

The application process is structured and is very pro-active into identifying the support an apprentice needs.  We understand diversity in approach and support, especially the additional mentoring some apprentices will need being very new to the ‘world of employment’. We always consider equally apprentices who have or may have a future disability, applicants in this area are very welcome, also apprentices from any age group.  It’s a poor assumption that all apprentices are 17-19, anyone at any age can learn new skills and develop a skill base or improve on the skill base that they already have achieved in their lives.
